WWE Monday Night RAW 8 29 2016 Results RAW Action - Kevin Owens is the new WWE Universal Champion! Triple H shocks the WWE Universe

WWE Raw Results:

— The show opened with Corey Graves in the ring with the WWE Universal Championship and the four participants in tonight’s Fatal 4-Way main event for the vacant title. Seth Rollins claimed to be the favorite to win the title, Owens insulted the others, Cass said he’s not an underdog because size does matter, and Reigns stayed silent until Rollins says things always come down to Rollins vs. Reigns, and Rollins always beats Reigns. Instead of speaking, Reigns started a brawl. Reigns cleared the ring and looked at the championship as his music played.

1. Chris Jericho defeated Neville. Jericho was eventually able to counter a hurricanrana into the Lion Tamer version of the Walls of Jericho for the submission victory.

— Bayley was backstage and ran into the New Day. Dana Brooke showed up to insult Bayley, which led to a challenge from New Day and Bayley to Dana, Gallows and Anderson.

2. Nia Jax defeated Hyan. Another quick win for Jax, which she won via pinfall after the Samoan driver. Her opponent was Houston local Hyaneyoung Olvera.

3. Sami Zayn defeated Jinder Mahal. Zayn was still selling his ankle injury from last week, but still got the win after the Helluva Kick.

4. Bayley and the New Day defeated Dana Brooke, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. Charlotte was on commentary for this match. Bayley got the win for her team with a Bayley-to-Belly on Dana.

5. Best of Seven Series: Sheamus defeated Cesaro. Cesaro got backdropped into the ringpost on the outside and Sheamus rolled him back in and applied the Cloverleaf for the submission victory to go up 2-0 in the series.

6. Braun Strowman defeated Americo. Strowman won a quick match with a pop-up reverse chokeslam of sorts.

— Stephanie McMahon demanded Paul Heyman come to the ring and apologize for Brock Lesnar’s actions at SummerSlam. Heyman paid Lesnar’s fine, they both threatened each other, then Heyman apologized. Stephanie accepted his apology, then stormed out.

7. Darren Young defeated Titus O’Neil. Young managed to catch O’Neil in a crucifix for the pin. After the match, O’Neil beat down both Young and Bob Backlund.

8. Fatal 4-Way Match For The WWE UniversalChampionship: Kevin Owens defeated Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Big Cass. Big Cass was eliminated first after a frog splash from Owens. Reigns was eliminated after Triple H returned to Pedigree him on the floor and helped Rollins pin him. Triple H then turned on Rollins and Pedigreed him, allowing Owens to get the pin and become the second ever Universal Champion.

Brock Lesnar Vs. Randy Orton, AJ Styles Push, Daniel Bryan's Future and more WWE business!

Controversial finish to Randy Orton vs.Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam was apparently “negotiated” beforehand. It was reported that about an hour or two before they went to the ring, there was a backstage meeting on the finish with Triple H, Mark Carrano, Lesnar and possibly Paul Heyman. For what it’s worth, the finish had been greatly debated, discussed and “negotiated” backstage before the match. Orton originally believed he and Lesnar were going to
have a regular match.

Although it indeed appears that the finish to Ortonvs.Lesnar played out exactly like it was supposed to, that doesn’t mean it should have. Lesnar is probably going to be gone for most of the remainder of 2016 and may not even be seen before The Royal Rumble in January 2017, so at the very least, WWE should have let Orton have a competitive match with him, even if it still ended with a loss!

With this WWE’s current title picture looks a lot different than originally planned because they initially planned on putting the Universal title on AJ Styles.

Also the question is whether Daniel Bryan will wrestle again? Million dollar question? Bryan wasn’t ready to retire when he did earlier this year, so as long as he’s still in his prime, there will continue to be speculation about him returning to the ring.

Harry Fujiwara Dies: WWE’s Mr. Fuji Was 82

Harry Fujiwara, best known as the professional wrestler Mr. Fuji, whose 31-year career spanned sports entertainment’s growth from regional niche attraction to cultural mainstream, died this morning, World Wrestling Entertainment has announced. He was 82.

WWE see Big Cass as their next big superstar against Roman Reigns with interesting crossroads across both Monday Night Raw and Smackdown Live

We're at a very interesting crossroads right now in the WWE, with regards to the main event picture across both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live.

The days of the old-school superstars sitting pretty at the top of the card is gone, with the likes of John Cena making do with whatever the creative team are giving him - which is no title shots - while other big names like Batista, CM Punk, Triple H and more just aren't around.

That leaves the WWE in the position of having to make new stars, and they may have just found the next big one. The higher ups at the WWE are incredibly happy with how well Big Cass has been doing lately. In fact, they see the 30-year-old as a potential major player in the WWE for years to come.

"This may come as no surprise but there continues to be big backstage praise on Big Cass

Goldberg says any potential WWE return is down to the company

Bill Goldberg was always a different kind of superstar in the wrestling world, even at the height of his fame in WCW.

The former two-time world champion - once in WCW and once in WWE - hasn't been inside a WWE ring since WrestleMania 20 back in 2004 where he and Brock Lesnar were mercilessly booed out of Madison Square Garden.

Of course, that's not indicative of Goldberg's popularity amongst wrestling fans. The crowd knew both Goldberg and Lesnar were departing the company the next day and had no reason to care about that particular matchup.

At his peak, Goldberg was as hot as anybody in the history of the business.
the 49-year-old has a chance to reconnect with the WWE audience through the forthcoming game, WWE 2K17.

His involvement in the game has given fresh momentum to rumours that the WCW icon may step inside a WWE ring again.

“It evoked a feeling that I haven’t felt in a long time which is kind of cool but the reality is it ain’t in my court,” he said. “It’s not in my court. I’ve said many times that I’m willing to throw water under the bridge but, hey, at the end of the day, it is what it is. I’m here in the video game and I’m ecstatic for that. If that’s all that it is, hey, I’m fine, I’m cool. I can live the rest of my life and be extremely pleased with what I’ve accomplished.”

Goldberg left the WWE after only one-year with the company and it didn't end nicely. The former NFL player complained the WWE didn't know how to "do business" and has taken multiple shots at Triple H - who has now ascended to a very high position in the WWE - since his departure.

He appears ready to bury the hatchet, but are the WWE? Is there a dream match with Goldberg you'd like to see? Let us know in the comments.

Mick Foley Talks about staying in touch with The Rock and WWE Womens Division - Sasha Banks and Charlotte

Mick Foley said while promoting “Holy Foley” and quoted to Rolling Stone -
If he stays in touch with The Rock:

“What’s funny is our daughters keep in better touch than we do. Like I’ll hear my daughter say, ‘The Rock’s going to be on
Raw today,’ and it’s a complete secret. ‘His daughter just texted me.’ I get a message from him every once in awhile. And I’ve got a great rock and roll Rock story.

His past criticism of female wrestlers in WWE and if he’s made changes on that front:

I was critical but it was always critical criticism, when I came on board Stephanie McMahon and I agreed that as the big promoters of the Women’s wrestling evolution we needed to draft the women very high for RAW so we drafted Charlotte second and Sasha sixth. Moving on we will get bigger and better.

WWE 2K17’s Goldberg is open to a real-life return – and wants to wrestle The Undertaker

Bill Goldberg is set to make a virtual wrestling comeback later this year, but his return might not be limited to videogame WWE 2K17. The multi-time heavyweight champ tells GR+ he’s also open to taking on his biggest rival – 2K17 cover star BrockLesnar – for real.

Both Lesnar and Goldberg left WWE in acrimonious circumstances after a WrestleMania 20 bout which fans booed out of the building, but Lesnar returned in 2012 – and Goldberg says he’s now open to doing the same. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: [the past is] water under the bridge. If WWE wants to make good money, and have a good opponent for Brock… hey, who knows?”

Lesnar isn’t the only man on his list of prospective opponents, either. Goldberg also says he’s like to go one-on-one with Seth Rollins – “Captain Crossfit needs to be taught a lesson” – and reserves particular praise for a legend who he never got to wrestle during his brief 2003-04 WWE tenure: The Undertaker.

“Taker is an idol of mine,” he says. “I’ve know him since before I got into the business. I very much respect him both in and out of the ring – as a human being first and foremost, but also as a wrestler, with all he’s achieved. Going up against him would be a dream come true for me – and the fans, obviously.”

WWE SummerSlam 2016: Why the Match Card Order made the show collapse!

Was it Sasha, was Charlotte, oh wait a minute, it was Cena, nooo it was AJ Styles, no was Roman Reigns? Maybe we thought Nikki Bella!! This is what the card order did!!

While the show was entertaining, the ending of the show was relatively disappointing. However, what some people have rightly pointed out was the erratic nature of how the card shaped up. Enzo and Cass did a tremendous job of kicking off the show and getting the crowd warmed up. But suddenly, from there, the card appeared to have been haphazardly shuffled like a deck of playing cards. The second bout on the main show ended up being the Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte rematch. Sasha and Charlotte definitely deserved to be higher up on the card after their incredible title match on Monday NightRaw.

Miz and Crews got unfortunately sandwiched between Sasha vs. Charlotte and perhaps the match of the night, and arguably the match of the entire SummerSlam weekend, in John Cena vs. AJ Styles. SummerSlam featured two matches that would end in a disqualification and a no contest: New Day vs. The Club for the Tag Team titles and Roman Reigns vs. Rusev for the United States title. The Tag Team title match and the United States title match could have certainly come before both Sasha vs. Charlotte and Cena vs. Styles.

Additionally, WWE returned to their old ways in putting a women’s wrestling match between the WWE Championship and the UniversalChampionship match to allow the crowd to take a breather. Becky, Naomi, and Carmella vs. the returning Nikki Bella, Natalya, and Alexa Bliss suffered from a drained crowd that was still trying to get back into the show after Cena vs. Styles and a disappointing match between Ambrose and Ziggler.

Nikki Bella to become the first SMACKDOWN women's champion at WWE BACKLASH

Over the past year, WWE has done an outstanding job of making the Women’s Division the attraction it deserves to be for the female athletes. Based on the work that was done by NXT’s women, along with what was accomplished by AJ Lee and Nikki Bella on the main roster, the improvement to women’s wrestling has become one of the most important developments on WWE programming .

Plan is that Nikki Bella won’t be holding the Smackdown Women’s Championship for very long.

Those plans can always change, but it seems she’d only be helping to establish the new title for Smackdown and then dropping it to someone else before the end of 2016. Nikki is still establishing herself, so she’ll need to do that before becoming champion. `

Nikki Bella being the most accomplished woman on the roster, makes her the top choice to become the leader of their Women’s Division now that she is back in a WWE ring. It seems like the future of women’s wrestling on Smackdown will go through NikkiBella. Nikki Bella being on top is as good a choice as any WWE could make.

WWE Predictions 2016: Will Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens Or Big Cass Become The Universal Champion?

WWE Predictions 2016: Will Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens Or Big Cass Become The Universal Champion?

Less than 24 hours after winning the first ever WWE Universal Championship match at SummerSlam 2016, Finn Balor was forced to drop the title because of an injury that will keep him out for approximately six months. Now, WWE has to find a new superstar to hold the top belt on “Monday Night Raw.”

After a series of qualifying matches on Monday, four wrestlers have a chance to win the championship. Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, Big Cass and Seth Rollins will compete in a Fatal-4-Way on the Aug. 29 edition of “Raw,” and the winner will be awarded the now-vacant belt.

Who is the favorite to become the next WWE Universal Champion?

While there are four contenders, there are only three realistic choices. Big Cass has virtually no chance to win the belt, and he’ll probably end up being the wrestler that gets pinned to end the match. He’s still part of a tag team with Enzo Amore, and they’ll win the tag team titles before either one becomes a champion on their own.

Had this match occurred three months ago, Reigns would be the leading candidate to win. WWE has pushed him harder than any other superstar in the last two years, and he won the WWE World Championship three times between November of last year and WrestleMania 32 on April 3.

Be back here tomorrow for the full Best and Worst of Raw column.

WWE Raw Results:

— The show opened with Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon in the ring to introduce WWE Universal Champion Finn Bálor. Bálor thanked the crowd and relinquished the title due to injury. As Finn was leaving, Rollins made his entrance and assumed he would be crowned the true champion. Sami Zayn came out to disagree, as did Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens, Enzo Amore and Big Cass, and Roman Reigns. Foley announced there would be a series of matches tonight, leading up to crowning a new champion next week. It was later revealed the tournament final would be a Fatal 4-Way match.

3. Big E defeated Karl Anderson. Luke Gallows tried to interfere, but Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods overwhelmed him. Big E hit the Big Ending to get the pin.

— Backstage, Stephanie says Brock Lesnar crossed the line last night and there will be repercussions.

4. Universal Championship Qualifier: Big Cass defeated Rusev. Rusev was nursing bruised ribs following SummerSlam. After taking a beating from Cass, Rusev opted to take a countout loss.

— Charlotte and Dana Brooke came out to run down Sasha Banks and the women’s division. This led to Mick Foley congratulating her and introducing Bayley, who made her full-time main roster debut and challenged Charlotte for her women’s title.

5. Bayley defeated Dana Brooke. Bayley won a competitive match with the Bayley To Belly.

6. Braun Strowman defeated Johnny Knockout. Strowman won in short order with the reverse chokeslam, then beat up Knockout again and demanded the referee count a second pinfall.

— The Dudley Boyz came out to announce their retirement and thank the crowd. When they were done, the Shining Stars came out to insult them and present them with two tickets to Puerto Rico. The Dudleys beat them up in response. Anderson and Gallows then came out to blindside and beat down the Dudley Boyz, ending with putting D-Von through a table with the Magic Killer.

7. Universal Championship Qualifier: Roman Reigns defeated Chris Jericho. Owens attempted to interfere on Jericho’s behalf, but Reigns got the pin after a spear to become the fourth person in next week’s Fatal 4-Way to determine a new Universal Champion.

Nikki Bella Return From Career-Threatening Neck Surgery At WWE SummerSlam

Nikki BellaReturn From Career-Threatening Neck Surgery At WWE SummerSlam

Back in January, Total Divas star and former WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella was sidelined with a neck injury that threatened to keep her out for at least six months, and possibly forever. Doctors have told Nikki that she’ll never wrestle full-time again, and her only appearance on WWE TV since was a short cameo during the WrestleMania 32 pre-show.

Whether it’s a return to full-time competition or not, Nikki Bella made her return to a WWE ring at SummerSlam. Alexa Bliss and Natalya found themselves down a partner following the wellness policy violation suspension of Eva Marie, who was written off the show with “exhaustion and stress” and sent on a month-long vacation. Nikki won the match for her team after hitting her new finisher — a fireman’s carry into a cutter, replacing the neck-destroying Rack Attack — on Carmella.

It’s great to see Nikki back in the ring following such a severe injury, even if you aren’t a fan of the Bella Twins.

Randy Orton injury Update

Randy Orton injury update

WWE has learned that Randy Orton has received 10 staples to close a laceration on his forehead following the brutal assault by Brock Lesnar that resulted in a TKO at SummerSlam.

After a momentous SummerSlam 2016, WWE rumors are abounding that Randy Orton will not be returning to the ring anytime soon because of his tragic head injury — and some are saying that Randy Orton won’t return at all. But are these rumors true? Here’s what we know so far.

WWE Rumors about Randy Orton right after SummerSlam. In their match, Orton — who was favored to win over Brock Lesnar — was defeated after a TKO (technical knockout) by the hulking Lesnar. Many commentators who have been following wrestling for some time have compared the Lesnar/Orton match to the match held eleven years ago at SummerSlam between The Edge and Matt Hardy, which ended on a similar bloody note. Certainly, no one expected the match between Lesnar and Orton to end the way it did, with Orton having to get treated for a laceration on his head that required 10 staples to close. Even the live-Tweeting from the SummerSlam stage declared what happened to Orton was an all-out “assault.”

Why Randy Orton Should Beat Brock Lesnar At WWE SummerSlam

Why Randy Orton Should Beat Brock Lesnar At WWESummerSlam

At WWE SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar will battle Randy Orton in a match that is a booking nightmare, with a case to be made for either superstar walking out with a victory.

Unsurprisingly, Vince McMahon and Triple H are reportedly in disagreement when it comes to the finish of Orton vs. Lesnar as ”Vince wants to keep Brock strong and this match was originally booked as just a way to get Brock a decent win but keep him away from the world title.” The flip side of that argument, of course, would be to book Orton to pick up the victory in his first match back in nearly a year as a way to reestablish him as a top star.

It’s quite the conundrum for WWE, one that really goes all the way back to WrestleMania 30 in 2014.

When Lesnar shockingly beat The Undertaker inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, it created a ripple effect that is still wending waves throughout WWE even to this day. Since ending “The Streak,” Lesnar still hasn’t lost a match cleanly, which means that whoever eventually does defeat him is going to benefit in a major way from beating the man who beat the streak.

Will that be Orton? Better yet, should it be?

Goldberg Talks Possible WWE Return, WWE Hall Of Fame Induction, Being Re-invigorated

Goldberg Talks Possible WWE Return, WWE Hall Of Fame Induction, Being Re-invigorated

As seen above, Brian Fritz of Between the Ropes spoke with Bill Goldberg at the WWE2K17 Launch Party.

BillGoldberg talks about being in WWE 2K17, being introduced to new generation of fans, a possible return to the WWE for one match or being inducted into the Hall of Fame and much more.

Goldberg says it is cool that there is an entire new generation that realizes through playing WWE 2K17 that he himself was a guy that used to rip other guys heads off. Goldberg likes the matches you can create virtually, including himself versus Brock Lesnar. In regards to another match with Lesnar, virtually or not, Goldberg says he gets to beat his ass again.

Goldberg continues on WWE 2K17, claiming the only reason he did this deal was for his 10 year old kid. Goldberg is grateful to 2K for giving him this opportunity to be such a great father to his kid.

When asked whether he was surprised current wrestling fans know who he was, Goldberg made it clear he was not with his disgust at the question. Goldberg explained he is the hottest free agent in the business, despite being 12 years removed.

In terms of one more match, Goldberg says his juices have been invigorated with the reactions from fans at WWE 2K17 events. However, Goldberg says the ball is not in his court for whether he wrestles again for the WWE.

Goldberg says being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame would be a dream come true and a true honor, but like with having one more match, it is not his decision.

Goldberg does not miss the physicality of wrestling, as he gets more physicality now than ever in practicing Muay Thai 5 times a week. Goldberg does miss the ability to go cause physical pain without being thrown in jail.

WWE’s Nikki Bella Has Reportedly Been Cleared To Return To The Ring

The supreme leader of Team Bella has apparently made a complete recovery from possibly career ending neck surgery and has been approved for a return to the ring. Bella, who has been training at the WWE Performance Center with hug machine Bayley, could return at any time — possibly even for SummerSlam! I know a trio that’s down an All Red Everything that could use one-half of twin magic in their SummerSlam preshow match.

While the Bella Twins spent a long time being disliked by fans who focused a lot of their hate for butterfly titles and pudding fights on them, when it came time to Give Divas A Chance, Nikki started delivering in a big way with a hoss-ier in ring style and big forearm clubberings.

Her finisher may be retired due to her injury, but there’s no doubt that Bella will find all new ways to inflict her love of sexy baseball uniforms and a general state of fearlessness on the WWE Women’sDivision, which has changed quite a bit since she left. There are fresh matches for Nikki Bella on both brands, and I’d be down to see her trying to drop Nia Jax or interrupting a Carmella moonwalk with a running Luger forearm.

Why Eva Marie Violated The WWE Wellness Policy, Eva Issues Statement, Plans To Appeal

Why Eva Marie Violated The WWE Wellness Policy, Eva Issues Statement, Plans To Appeal

TMZ reports that Eva Marie tested positive for Adderall, which caused her to violate the WWE Wellness Policy and receive a 30-day suspension.

Eva tells TMZ that she has a prescription for the drug, the same which caused Roman Reigns to violate the Policy earlier this summer. Eva says she's appealing the suspension.

TMZ says their WWE source claims the medication was not properly approved by the company but Eva insists she has a legit prescription from her doctor. She told TMZ:

"I am disappointed that this suspension has occurred, yet understand and respect that WWE upholds their Wellness Policy to the letter and won't compromise on its integrity. I violated policy by not turning in portions of required paperwork in the time frame WWE Medical deemed timely. I look forward to my return!"
